Juggle, spin, roll and shake

OTHER than concocting potent drinks, bartenders are also skilled in juggling, flipping, spinning and rolling their bottles and shaker tins.
About 20 of them from established clubs and hotels in the country showed off these skills at the recently held National Flair Bartending Championship at Bangsar Village II in Kuala Lumpur.

With music blasting in the background, they were given five minutes each to impress the judges with their slick moves.
Some won applause from the crowd while some kept dropping their tools out ofnervousness.
Other than their showmanship, they were also assessed on the flavours of their concoctions.
The championship organised by the Malaysian Association of Hotels, Malaysian Food & Beverage Executives Association and the Malaysia Bartenders Association, was held in search of the Best Flair Bartender of the year.
Amirrudin Omar from Lush Bar in Johor Baru walked away with the title as well as RM1,000 and a trophy.
Firdaus Abd Mutalib from Four Seasons Hotel in Langkawi and Mohd Shyful Abdul Khalid from Cynna Bar in Kuala Lumpur were the first and second runners-up and won themselves RM750 and RM500 respectively. Both Amirrudin and Firdaus will be representing the country at the 5th Asean Flair Bartending Championship in Manila, Philip-pines.

The crowd was also treated to a lucky draw courtesy of Mines Marketing and Bed-Making Contest and Kartini Mohd Darus and her husband won a queen-size bed with divan from Kingkoil Corporation Sdn Bhd.
